We are working alongside several different ministries in Africa.

Voodoo was born in southern Benin.  It still dominates today.  A week after we visited, I got an email from one of the believers.  Voodoo priests told “Joseph” that voodoo was going to kill him in seven days because he was telling people about Jesus.  For a week, many schemes were made to take his life, but something always unraveled the priests plans before Joseph showed up.

On day 7, the voodoo priests came to his village to kill him “because voodoo says to”.  However, the voodoo village stood between the priests and Joseph.  The crowd became angrier and got violent.  Soon, the seven priests were killed!  Then the village didn’t know what to do – they were terrified of what voodoo would do to them now!

Joseph said, “Listen to me…” and began telling them stories about a man who healed sick, walked on water, silenced storms, brought dead people back to life, and made demons scared.  Many of the people listened as he said, “Can’t you see this man is more powerful than voodoo?”  Then he told them of how Jesus was killed and then came back to life!  When the villagers heard about this and saw that voodoo wasn’t bringing their priests back to life, they wanted to know more.

A year later, Joseph continues telling a young church stories about God.
